The Story Behind the Guide

No-dig gardening transformed the way I grow food. Instead of fighting weeds and constantly working the soil, I discovered that nature already knows how to build healthy, fertile ground. This guide shares the basics so anyone can get started, whether they have a large backyard or just a small patch of space.

No-dig gardening is a gentle method that focuses on building soil rather than disturbing it. By layering natural materials directly on top of grass or weeds, we create rich, fertile growing spaces without needing to dig or turn over the ground. It is an approach that mimics how nature builds soil on the forest floor—quietly, deeply, and with less work over time.
